The Alfa Romeo story is certainly one of both greatness and mediocrity.

Through the entire 1920s,’30s and’40s, Alfa Romeo produced a number of desirable racing, sports and grand touring automobiles. Enzo Ferrari was a racecar driver for Alfa during the’20s before switching to managing Alfa’s race team. Neapolitan Nicola Romeo overran the company in 1915 and his name was subsequently included with the carmaker’s brand. He left the business in 1937 and ultimately founded his own low rider company in the mid-’40s. In terms of Alfa, the business nearly went broke and was bought out by the federal government in the first 1930s.

Apart from a creation interruption in the mid-’40s due to World War II, this pace continued through the 1950s and’60s, with highlights from these decades being the Giulietta, Giulia and Spider Duetto. Some 2 full decades later, a less expensive, de-contented version of the Spider called the Graduate was sold alongside the Spider. The latter, 2023  MiTo a two-seat roadster that continued into the’90s with minimal changes, gained fame in the usa via The Graduate movie that bowed in 1967 and starred a young Dustin Hoffman who drove the sleek sports car. Highlights of the era are the P3, the 8C 2300 and the many 6C models throughout those years.

The Alfa Romeo story is among both greatness and mediocrity. Alfa Romeo’s history actually started with some French lineage, having initially been founded by French entrepreneur Alexandre Darracq who used Italian investors for capital and based the company in Milan, Italy. Though well-known to Americans decades ago for the sporty and stylish cars, declining sales eventually led the company to avoid importing cars to the United States. Now, however, Alfa Romeo is defined to return stateside for 2014.

By 1910 a new company debuted under the new name ALFA, which stood for Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili. These early Alfas quickly earned a reputation for leading-edge engineering and design, key attributes confirmed by many motor racing victories. Initially debuting as Societa Anonima Italiana Darracq, the business struggled through its first few years.

This more tangible comeback can happen in grand fashion, as it will herald the arrival of the new 2014 2023 Alfa Romeo MiTo Romeo 4C, a tiny, 2023  MiTo midengine sports car. That year, 84 types of its limited-production (just 500 total), Maserati V8-powered 8C sports vehicle were made available. However, Alfa is defined to go back to the states for 2014, this time with an increase of than 84 cars to offer to U.S. Incredibly light curb weight (about 2,000 pounds), along with a feisty, 240-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a well-balanced chassis all but guarantee thrilling performance. Things have improved greatly since that time, and a fortified Alfa Romeo briefly reappeared in the states in 2008. Production of the $70,000-plus road burner will initially be limited by just 1,200 for the U.S. As quickly since it had returned, it disappeared again.

However, on March 14, 2008, Alfa Romeo announced officially that the name would instead be “MiTo”, an abbreviation of the cities Milano (Milan) & Torino (Turin), because it was made in the former and was to be assembled in the latter; the name can be a play on the Italian word “mito”, meaning “mythical” or “legendary” ;.

Although Alfa Romeo was still turning out stylish sports and grand touring cars like the Spider, spirited GTV (and later GTV6) sport coupe and luxurious 164 sedan, questionable quality control and iffy reliability doomed sales for the business here. Consequently, Alfa Romeo withdrew from the U.S. Fiat annexed the company in 1986 but that didn’t help much. The 1970s,’80s and’90s, however were not nearly as glorious in the U.S. market in 1995, although the company was certainly still alive and mostly well in Europe.

The automobile was available in all Alfa’s major markets in stages from July. The Alfa Romeo MiTo is a three-door supermini officially introduced on June 19, 2008, at Castello Sforzesco in Milan, Italy with an international introduction at the British Motor Show in 2008. The three-door hatchback is front-wheel drive and is going to be sold to compete with the MINI and the newer Audi A1. Designed by Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, the look is considered to be inspired by the 8C Competizione.

This new engine can be obtained with 105 PS (77 kW; 104 bhp),135 PS (99 kW; 133 bhp) and 170 PS (125 kW; 168 bhp) power ratings. All multi-air versions have a start-stop system as standard.  MiTo got a new electro-hydraulic valve control system for Multiair engines in September 2009. At its launch, the MiTo will feature low-displacement turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. MultiAir engines increases power (up to 10%) and torque (up to 15%), as well as a large lowering of consumption levels (up to 10%) and CO2 emissions (up to 10%), of particulates (up to 40%) and NOx (up to 60%). Also, a power-limited 79 PS (58 kW; 78 hp) naturally aspirated engine variant is produced to generally meet the brand new Italian legislation for young people.
