What is a debt collector
The loan arena is bristling with a wide array of loan options. No wonder that people are blithely reaping the benefits of all such enticing loan options. However, giving loans can prove to be quite pesky for creditors, particularly when there are more debtors than what a creditor can manage. The situation becomes even more baffling for creditors when debtors are not returning the debts as promised.
Furthermore, monitoring the records and returns of hordes of debtors can turn out to be an arduous task for creditors. That is why, when creditors find themselves entangled in such a niggling situation; they often turn to debt collectors. Debt collectors or debt collecting companies can enable creditors to get out of the mire of mounting outstanding amounts of debtors.
However, some of the unprofessional debt collectors can actually rile the debtors by using unethical tactics. Intimidating calls, illicit approach, illegal withdrawals from debtors’ accounts, verbal abuse, unnecessary harassment, contacting the debtors at inopportune moments, and threats are some of the unethical tactics used by spiteful debt collectors.
According to a recent research, there has been a constant increase in the number of complaints lodged by consumers against debt collectors. This accentuates the fact that debtors must acquaint themselves with their rights. They must understand that debt collectors have every right to recoup the due amount, but without using illegal tactics.
Therefore, it is advisable that debtors repay the amount they owe to the debt collectors. And if they feel that they are being unnecessarily harassed, they should take appropriate action against the debt collector.
